We're supporting Startup Weekend Manchester!

2 November 2012 | by Josh R

We're really excited to be supporting Startup Weekend Manchester - a new venture to help tech entrepreneurs in Manchester learn how to turn their ideas into successful businesses. Startup Weekend is part of a global movement over Friday 9 November - 11 November to encourage and empower young tech entrepreneurs and we can't wait to be a part of it.

It's going to be a properly intense weekend. From Friday 9 to 11 November, the new TechHub Manchester is going to see an amazing array of talent come together to build startups. Developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts will share ideas, form teams, build products and prepare business models for market. At the end of the 54-hour frenzy, teams will pitch ideas to local and global digital entrepreneurs.

As you might know, we began life as a startup in a university bedroom and now we're part of one of the UK's leading cloud computing companies, iomart Group plc. So we'd like to think that we've got a few good ideas about what it takes to turn a concept into a real and successful business. And you might not think about it, but secure and reliable hosting underpins the tech economy. So this is a smashing opportunity for us to support Manchester's tech startup scene, and encourage the tech talent of the future.

We strongly believe the north-west is the best place to found a tech startup. We've got all the ingredients and, importantly, we've got the people. Doug Ward and Shaun Gibson are two of those. As Co-Founders of TechHub Manchester, we're proud to support their vision of making Manchester a top five European startup destination.

So, in addition to supporting Startup Weekend, all next week we'll be posting useful tips and advice on the tools, technology and maybe also the about talent you need to make your startup idea a success. Myself and our development team leader James will also be there, taking part in Startup Weekend and answering your questions too.

We look forward to seeing you there. There are a few tickets left for Startup Weekend - sign-up now!
