UltraNAS™ Offsite Backup Space
Backups are an important and integral part of any hosting solution. Depending on the amount of space you need, one of our two options below should take care of your backup needs.
Of course if your requirments mean something more customised is needed, please get in touch with our friendly and knowledgeable sales team.
Space on shared UltraNAS™ appliance
Our offsite NAS space is available to all colocation, rackspace and dedicated server customers.
The NAS appliance is connected by our redundant fibre ring over a private VLAN back to your server(s). Space is available in increments of 10GB, up to 50GB, at which point a dedicated NAS appliance becomes more cost effective.
To use this service you will need a free network port on the server(s) that you intend to connect to this service.
The traffic between your servers and the NAS appliance are completely unmetered, so you wouldn't pay for any bandwidth used over this service.
The service is simply priced at £10 per 10GB block per month. This is presented as 'raw' storage which you cab mount on your server using Windows File Sharing, SMB or Appletalk. Alternatively it can be accessed through FTP. The space is protected by RAID5.
When ordering, if you have multiple servers, please list the servers you'd like attaching to the NAS. You only pay for the space once, and it's accessible by as many of your servers as you need.
Dedicated Offsite UltraNAS™ Appliance
Our new dedicated NAS appliance option is available to all colocation, rackspace and dedicated server customers as an alternative to our shared NAS service.
The NAS appliance is located at our second (disaster recovery) site, connected by our redundant fibre ring over a private VLAN back to your server(s). A choice of three configurations give you between 500GB and 2TB of usable space.
To use this service you will need a free port on the server(s) that you intend to connect to this service. In the case of dedicated servers already connected to our NAS service, we would simply disconnect the NAS cable from your second network interface, and use this to connect to your private NAS.
The traffic between your servers and the NAS appliance are completely unmetered, so you wouldn't pay for any bandwidth used over this service.
As an alternative, you can have a NAS connected up to an external, unmetered 10Mbps port, making it an ideal way to back up from your office, or to act as a simple high-volume webserver, using the inbuilt Qnap web server.
