Burstable IP Transit

Burstable IP Transit (95th Percentile)

Instead of the connection being fixed, burst is allowed. So you may ask for a 1Mbps commitment on a 100Mbps port for example. We then use industry standard 95th Percentile billing calculations to work out any overage charges as follows:

Bandwidth usage from your switch port is sampled at regular intervals, and logged on our system. The top 5% of bandwidth usage for the month is disregarded (roughly 36 hours), the 95th percentile remaining is used as the figure on which you are billed. So if this figure is higher than your commitment, you will be billed for the excess at our price-list rate.

Burstable connections are provisioned at a minimum of 1Mbps and are at a contention rate of 1:1, i.e. your entire commitment is guaranteed to be available for 100% of the month. Burst is not guaranteed and is charged at 10% over your CDR rate.

Line Speed Price per Mbit Port Speed
1Mbps – 9Mbps £35.00 100Mbps
10Mbps – 19Mbps £30.00 100Mbps
20Mbps – 29Mbps £25.00 100Mbps
30Mbps – 49Mbps £20.00 100Mbps
50Mbps+ price upon request 100Mbps/1000Mbps
