About our data centres
The key to the reliability of internet services depends almost entirely on the datacentre. Melbourne's attention to detail in this area is the key to our reliability. In short, we provide the ultimate technical environment for your servers.
We operate from our two self-managed Manchester datacentres; Reynolds House is our primary facility, and Greenheys is used as a backup/disaster recovery (DR) facility.
Reynolds House, and Turing House Datacentres
Reynolds House and Turing House are neighbouring buildings located on the Manchester Technopark on the periphery of Manchester City Centre.
Reynolds is a dedicated datacentre building; and in fact the largest high-specification datacentre building in the North West. This facility is home to our rackspace customers.
Turing is our newest facility, opened in July 2009, and is now home to all our managed servers and colocation.
Compared to other providers, who simply have a suite in someone else's data centre, we are able to offer a superior level of service, as we have complete control of our environment.
Here comes the technical bit...
They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so instead of boring your with pages of detail, see the exciting datacentre equipment for yourself with our picture tour below. Even better idea - why not come for a datacentre tour?

Reynolds House is supplied by two diverse 6.6KV feeds from a the national grid. Two 2MW Generators with at least 7 days supply of fuel, provide us with full capability to sustain long power outages.

Our APC Infrastruxure UPS units, in n+1 mode provide us with power to sustain load until the generator starts up as well as ensuring a clean electrical supply.

N+1 Air conditioning is provided by under floor cooling, the air flow directed appropriately by grilles in the floor. The capacity of the equipment is such that a failure of one unit can be handled by the other units.

A full VESDA system that provides early detection of smoke is in place so that any potential fire is detected before it can develop. In the extremely unlikely event that a fire does develop a FM200 gas fire suppression system is triggered.

The facility is based on Manchester TechnoPark which has security staff on site 24/7 with offsite backup to deal with any major event. CCTV cameras (both internal and external), motion detection and a key fob access system ensures a high level of security with multiple layers of defence.

Greenheys Facility
Greenheys is our secondary facility for customers requiring disaster recovery hosting options. This site is completely independent of Reynolds House allowing us to offer multi-site hosting and offsite backup services. We can offer private interconnections between the two facilities.
We offer colocation by the "U" and rack space in lockable quarter and full racks.
Two APC UPS systems enable us to maintain power to servers and networking equipment should the power fail. Fixed air conditioning in the server room allows us to keep the facility to an operational temperature of 22 degrees or below.
